Sanctuary in Juvenile Justice Settings

The Sanctuary Model

In April 2006, the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) began a relationship with the Sanctuary Institute to bring trauma-informed care into many of the voluntary and juvenile justice settings in New York. The project is being evaluated by Stonybrook University.

The Department of Public Welfare has also supported a large statewide Sanctuary Model implementation including a number of residential and juvenile justice programs for children and youth.
